How Much Does Branding Cost in Indonesia? What Really Shapes the Budget

Oct 2026

"How much does branding cost?" is the question every agency is asked first and answers last. The usual reply, "it depends", is true and unhelpful.

So here is a straight answer for Indonesia in 2026: what different kinds of branding projects typically cost, what actually drives the number up or down, and how to budget without paying twice.

Why quotes range from IDR 99,000 to billions

On Indonesian design marketplaces, logo design is advertised from Rp 99,000, with packages up to around Rp 10 million (Sribu). Corporate rebrands for large enterprises run into billions of rupiah.

Both figures are real. They simply buy different things. A marketplace logo is a single graphic made without research. A corporate rebrand is a strategic program: stakeholder research, positioning, naming, architecture, a complete identity system, governance and a launch across every touchpoint. Comparing them on price alone is like comparing a sketch with a building.

The useful question is not "what does branding cost?" but "what does the problem I am solving require?"

Indicative budget ranges

The ranges below reflect professional agency engagements in Indonesia. They exclude VAT (PPN) and third-party costs, and every project is scoped individually.

Logo and core identity: IDR 50M to 150M. A logo suite, color, typography and a short usage guide. Typically 1 to 2 months.

Brand refresh: IDR 150M to 400M. An equity audit, a refined logo, an updated system and guidelines. Typically 2 to 4 months.

Brand strategy and full identity system: IDR 300M to 800M. Research, positioning, optional naming, a complete visual identity, templates and guidelines. Typically 3 to 6 months.

Corporate rebrand for an enterprise or listed company: IDR 1B to 2.5B, before launch costs. Stakeholder research, naming, architecture, the identity system, guidelines, an internal playbook and a communications strategy. Typically 6 to 9 months.

Launch and rollout: scoped separately. Internal and public launch, digital transition, signage and touchpoint coordination, and campaigns. Typically 6 to 18 months.

Ongoing brand and content retainer: IDR 30M to 100M+ per month. Campaign creative, social content and reporting, billed monthly.

Two patterns are worth knowing. First, strategy and research usually account for a significant share of a serious brand project, because they determine whether the design will work. Second, in enterprise rebrands, launch and rollout frequently cost more than developing the brand itself.

Seven factors that move the budget

1. Depth of research

Desk research and a workshop cost far less than stakeholder interviews, employee surveys, customer focus groups and concept testing. More research costs more upfront and reduces the risk of an expensive wrong answer.

2. Naming

Creating a new name adds workshops, creative exploration, trademark screening with DJKI, domain checks and linguistic testing across languages and regions.

3. Stakeholders and approvals

A founder-led startup may approve in one meeting. A listed company may need sessions with directors, commissioners and shareholders. Every approval round adds time and senior hours. We cover this in Rebranding a Publicly Listed Company.

4. Brand architecture complexity

One brand is simpler than a group with ten subsidiaries and product lines. Each additional brand in the system adds design and governance work.

5. Number of touchpoints and templates

A brand used on a website and social media needs fewer templates than one used on packaging, vehicles, uniforms, branches, reports and marketplace stores.

6. Seniority of the team

Senior strategists and creative directors cost more per day than junior designers, and they are the reason the work holds up under scrutiny. Ask who will actually do the work.

7. Launch scope

Events, signage replacement, digital migration and campaigns are usually scoped separately. Physical production, fabrication, venue hire and media buying are typically billed at cost on top of agency fees.

What is usually not included

Check every proposal for these third-party costs:

How to budget wisely

  1. Do not skip strategy to save money. An identity built without strategy often has to be redone within a few years, which costs more than doing it properly once.
  2. Phase the investment. Fund brand development first, then roll out by priority and replacement cycle.
  3. Ask for fixed fees per phase. Clear deliverables per phase, with payment linked to milestones, protect both sides.
  4. Budget for rollout from the start. Signage, packaging, digital and internal launch costs surprise many companies after the identity is approved.
  5. Compare scopes, not totals. Two proposals with different prices often describe two different projects. Our guide to choosing a branding agency includes a scorecard for comparing them fairly.

Think in years, not invoices

A strong identity system typically serves a company for many years. An identity project costing IDR 600 million that serves the brand for eight years costs IDR 75 million a year, less than many companies spend on a single campaign. Measured against what a clear, consistent brand does for pricing power, recruitment and recognition, it is one of the longest-lasting investments a marketing budget can make.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a logo cost in Indonesia?

On design marketplaces, logos are advertised from Rp 99,000 to around Rp 10 million. A professionally developed logo and core identity from an agency, with research and a usage system, typically starts from around IDR 50 million.

How much does a rebrand cost in Indonesia?

A brand refresh typically costs IDR 150 million to 400 million. A full corporate rebrand for an enterprise typically starts from around IDR 1 billion before launch and rollout costs, which are scoped separately.

How are branding projects usually paid?

Most agencies invoice against milestones, such as a deposit at kickoff followed by payments on approval of research, strategy, identity and final delivery.
